Concrete Pavements in Québec: Bridging state of the art projects with yesterday’s infrastructure
Over the last ten years, Demix Construction built more than 70% of concrete roads in Québec, and has contributed to put this innovative and sustainable solution forward. Indeed, did you know that on a sunny summer day, the asphalt paving temperature could be 20°C higher than the concrete paving one? Concrete Pavements contributed to the reduction of head islands and because they last longer, they enable to put less pressure on our resources.

CRH Canada and its divisions have entered into a multi-year national partnership with Earth Rangers, the kids’ conservation organization that empowers children and their families to become directly involved in protecting animals and their homes. As part of this partnership, CRH Canada sponsors the incredibly popular Bring Back the Wild™ program, including a national traveling School Outreach tour. In the Spring of 2013, the tour visited the Greater Montreal Area (GMA), bringing a message to kids about how they can contribute to conservation efforts and the work that corporations like CRH Canada do to protect biodiversity and our progressive rehabilitation efforts at our Demix quarries.

Did you know that this year again, our four quarries in Laval, St-François, Mirabel and Varennes have welcomed a couple of peregrine falcons? For several years now, in partnership with Québec Oiseaux and Parc de la rivière des mille îles, Demix is monitoring the presence of the threatened species and contribute to its well-being.

Mario Levasseur, formerly Team Lead, Maintenance based out of the Demix Agrégats Laval Quarry, inherited his father's talent for all things mechanical. The eldest of 14 children, born in La Vallée de la Matapédia, he has always loved playing with engines.
